Weekend. Two days. Two training sessions. (Progress Report)


After the tough training session up to Sunset Peak on Saturday, Sunday was a new day and another session. Michceala (the wife), Alex (the Bulgarian) and I trekked from Tai Wai to Sai Kung. A route that I had completed in July – one of the very first long hikes. This would be a good check point to see how I am doing.

So below is the data from the first trip and the follows the same from this weekend – a mere five weeks apart – and just over 134 km of training difference.

The major difference for me, is the fact that I shaved an hour off the time it took, and more importantly, the heart rate is lower. I was really pleased with this effort and I know its just the start but its better and faster. Steps up were easier and I felt better at the end. The first time I could barely move, this time though was fine, no pain.

This is progress. Albeit small but progress. Strangely, last week I spent quite a bit of time talking to my class about progress and why that is more important that the result.
